CFOI is the authoritative count of work related deaths in Texas, produced with the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. It matters for injury research because it breaks out transportation and material moving incidents — the leading cause of workplace fatalities — and reports separately on driver/sales workers and truck drivers.

The companion to CFOI, SOII counts nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses in Texas, broken down by industry (NAICS). It provides the base for estimating the risk of work vehicle crashes that lead to disabling injury rather than death.
